Traffic and Safety Advisory

Please plan ahead for your travel to school. Traffic at SAS does build up from 7:30 a.m. onwards and the final 200 meters to the school can take at least ten minutes. The school operates on a one way traffic flow from 7:10 a.m. until 8:05 a.m. The outgoing lane is reserved for the buses which normally arrive at 7:25 a.m. and they receive priority access. There are several convenient drop-off areas available just outside our school.

DROP OFF AREAS

Woodgrove Avenue

When dropping off students at the Woodgrove Ave/Woodgrove Walk junction, parents are asked to refrain from parking, waiting, dropping off, picking up or overtaking along the road that leads from Woodgrove Avenue to the Primary School Pedestrian Gate. To provide a safety zone, we strongly recommend adherence to these guidelines when dropping off your children. Singapore traffic regulations do not allow any parking, waiting, drop off, pick up or overtaking around the zebra crossing area demarcated by the 'single white zigzag lines'.

SAS security officers will monitor the situation from time to time to help facilitate a smooth flow of traffic and a safe environment for your children.

HDB Block 426-A

When dropping off students at this area, please avoid waiting on the main driveway so as not to block other traffic. There is ample drop off place inside the covered car park or along the side roads. This is a good drop off point for the Middle and High School students. Your cooperation will help a great deal in reducing annoyance to our neighbours.

Woodlands Street 41

When dropping off at the main street, please drop away from the entrance so as not to inconvenience cars entering into the school.

SPEED LIMIT 20KM/H REMINDER

SAS cares deeply about the safety of our community, particularly the safety of our students while on campus. As part of our overall efforts to enhance safety for all campus users, the school has installed portable radar speed signs. These "Your Speed" display devices will make drivers aware when they are driving above 20km/h. We therefore remind all drivers, while on campus, to observe the 20km/h speed limit. Should you have any questions, please contact Isaac Benjamin, Security and Safety Manager, at 6360 6351.

RESTRICTIONS DURING MORNING PEAK PERIOD TRAFFIC

No taxis are permitted to enter SAS between 7:25 a.m. and 8:05 a.m. on schooldays.

No right turn at the SAS front gate (school days) for cars between 7:25 a.m. and 8:05 a.m. This will allow for a smoother management of buses and cars entering SAS during the peak period.

No access via front gate for any vehicles except buses from 2:15 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. The dispersal buses will be using the front to enter, park and later leave with the students. There is NO ACCESS via private vehicles or taxis during this time.

SIGNALLING EARLY

Drivers and cyclists: Signal early before turning to avoid accidents and improve traffic flow. Part of safe driving and cycling is letting others predict what you will do, such as changing lanes or directions, well in advance.

The SAS campus is private property, so you won't be fined for not using your turn signals; however, it is still best to follow rules and regulations as if you were on a public road. When you use your turn signals, you show courtesy to other drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians. You also make it easier for Security to optimize traffic flow. Most importantly, you help SAS become a safer place for everyone.
