Calendar Update: School Year 2020-21

Previously, we shared with you an idea proposed by community members that we move forward our 2020–21 school calendar by one week, with school starting one week earlier in August and ending one week earlier in December. We received nearly 500 emails in response to this. Thank you for sharing your thoughts. We also discussed this with our faculty senate and our PTA. We wanted to make sure we heard as many voices and different pros and cons on the issue as possible before making a decision. Read More

What You Need To Do

Please ensure that you have read and completed all of the items below to provide a seamless experience for your family.

Orientation sessions will introduce all new students and at least one parent, to the division, counselor, teaching staff, and general expectations. Orientation is an essential part of transition and a huge step toward belonging in our community. Below is a quick guide of the orientation schedule by division.

You are encouraged to apply for a parent SASCard and a vehicle pass and visit the Eagle Stop to purchase school uniforms before the first day of school to avoid long lines.

If your child is not starting in January or August, please contact the division offices for your orientation date.

Important: Orientation Update

At the start of each year, we typically host a number of family orientations in each division as well as a community open house. This year, due to the safe distancing measures in place, we will not be able to host those events on campus, but we will host them virtually.

On July 24, your family will receive an email with links to orientation videos and everything you need to start the year off well. These will replace the large session orientations that we typically hold. Your division counselors will reach out regarding small group student-only sessions as needed in the middle school and high school.

SASCard and Campus Access at the Eagle Stop

The SASCard is a chip-based smart card and photo ID. It allows you to enter the school campus and makes it easy to complete many school-related tasks. On campus, it serves as a cashless payment card and library card. Off campus, it can be used as a NETS FlashPay card for purchases and when riding public transportation.

You are not required to apply for an SASCard for your child. Students will automatically receive their SASCards through their respective divisions upon arrival at SAS. All other SAS community members, including parents, will need to apply for a SASCard.

For more SASCard information, please drop by the Eagle Stop from 7:45 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. or contact us at or +65 6360 6075.

For preschool through second grade students: Students do not keep their own cards. Instead, these cards are held by their classroom teachers or instructional assistants. Students in these grades are not required to show the card when entering campus with an adult holding a SASCard, and their teachers manage the cards when students buy lunch or check out books.
