Selection Process
Over the years, we have developed a procedure for choosing courses that is based on seniority and on students’ last names. Grade 12 chooses first, followed by grades 11, 10, and 9. Within a grade level, students are rotated based on their last names, and over four years this rotation results in equally advantageous placement. Therefore, students may feel assured that their chance of getting any course over four years will be as good as any other student’s chance. We encourage students to consider how their grade level and last name will place them in the queue each year. To see the details of this year’s process, please read Interim Student Selections 2026.
