We want to share with you some of the Singapore Government’s changes to its Covid-19 rules and how they impact our school. We are glad to see movement in a number of areas that will allow us to welcome more parents onto campus and clarify procedures for students who have a positive diagnosis.
Campus Access
We are excited to share that we are able to provide additional opportunities for parents to join us on campus. In the table below you will find the complete list of opportunities for parents at this time. We continue to work with the government to look for ways we can increase the opportunities for safe connections among community members.
Please note that parents must be vaccinated in order to enter campus and must follow all safe management measures while on campus.

Return to School Process
As noted in the recent guidance from the Ministry of Health, students and educators do not need to provide medical clearance to return to school after testing positive for Covid-19. The government has stated:
“To ensure a safer learning environment for everyone, it is important that we all exercise personal responsibility to monitor our own health and the health of our children and family members closely. A student can return to school once he or she feels well, and tests negative for Covid-19 after at least 72 hours of self-isolation."
As a result, we have updated our “return to school protocols.” Please note that if your child feels ill we ask that you keep them home, even if they have a negative Covid-19 test. Covid-19 is not the only possible illness and our goal remains the wellness of our entire community. This information was further clarified in a recent Straits Times Q&A.
Close Contact Letters
In the past, the school has helped the Ministry of Health with identifying possible close contacts when positive cases were identified. The school is no longer required to conduct contact tracing.
As noted by the Ministry of Health, individuals who have a positive ART do not need to report this information to any governing body. Individuals are asked to simply self-isolate for 72 hours and then conduct another ART. Individuals who receive a positive PCR test are already noted by the government, and the government conducts contact tracing and notification through TraceTogether token data. In light of this change in government policy, we will no longer send out letters identifying individuals as “possible close contacts.” We do still ask that all families notify us immediately if their child tests positive using covidreporting@sas.edu.sg.
If you have questions about what to do if you are not well or have tested positive on an ART/PCR, please click here to access the government website. Please continue to have your child carry their TraceTogether token at all times.
Weekly ART Testing
We continue to encourage all students to take an ART before returning to campus each Monday morning. This is not required but represents one additional way we can help to ensure the wellness of our entire community. At this time we will continue to make it mandatory for all educators to conduct this test before coming to campus each week
Access to Track and Tennis Courts
We are excited that we can once again welcome parents to use several of our outdoor athletic facilities during non-student programming time. At the moment, the two facilities available for recreational use are the high school track and our tennis courts. At this time, none of our indoor facilities are available yet for recreational use. We ask that you observe all safe management measures as appropriate. Please remain in groups of five or less and please ensure that you wear your mask when you are not exercising.
Please note the details below for each athletic space:
Track
Parents may use the high school track from 5:00 a.m. to 7:30 a.m. or from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on school days. The track is also available on the weekends from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Tennis Courts
We are at present making available our tennis courts that are located on the high school roof. To reserve a court time, please use our Reserve My Court booking system. You will need to create an account and then select Singapore American School as your location.
Please note that student programming will always be prioritized and sometimes there are last-minute changes to the schedule. We appreciate your patience as we strive to offer our students the best experience possible.
