Blue

SWIM CLUB TEAM BLUE

This is the first step to prepare for competitive team swimming. This squad is designed to continue swimmer development on all four strokes to a basic level of proficiency. Key swimming etiquette: lane swimming, competitive turns, and use of the pace clock is introduced.

To Qualify: Swimmers must be able to display all skills in our Level 8 swim school curriculum:

  • Dolphin kick
  • Swim 200 m:
  • 50 m backstroke
  • 50 m breaststroke
  • 100 m freestyle

All using correct breathing timing and good body position.

Goals: Further development of all four competitive strokes, with a focus on improving skill endurance. Successful completion of training sessions in distances up to 1.5 km.

Attendance Expectations: Twice weekly with the option of a third session. Expected to participate and represent team at all Eagle home meets. Attendance at inter-club meets in Singapore is recommended.

White

SWIM CLUB TEAM WHITE

Here, swimmers are introduced to “training”. This squad is designed to continue swimmer’s development in all four strokes while increasing the number of repetitions. Swimmers are encouraged to perfect skills through focused repetition. Introduction to the use of heart rate monitoring, stroke count, and understanding swim training terminology.

To Qualify: Swimmers must be able to complete the following sets as well as demonstrate proficiency in all four strokes turns and starts.

  • 5x 50 freestyle swim on 1:25
  • 5x 50 freestyle kick on 1:40
  • 3x 100 IM on 3:15

Goals: Further development of all four competitive strokes, with a focus on improving endurance, Learn how to read pace clock within short distance of 50 to 100 meters, To successfully complete training sessions in distances up to 2.5 km, and learn relay change-overs .

Attendance Expectations: Minimum 3x or more is recommended. Expected to participate and represent team at all Eagle home meets. Attendance at inter-club meets in Singapore is expected.

Red

SWIM CLUB TEAM RED

These swimmers will have already learned the basics of team training, and have been introduced to basic drill movements in all four competitive strokes. Commitment to attendance and competitive opportunities must be shown. Workload will increase as appropriate.

To Qualify: Swimmers must be able to complete the following sets as well as demonstrate proficiency in each of the four strokes.

Goals: To develop a training ethic and pursuit of “excellence” in all competitive strokes, starts (including relays) and turns, and to improve speed, endurance and racing skills through training and racing.

Attendance Expectations: Minimum 3x a week. Expected to participate in home, inter-club, international school and national level meets.

Streamliners

SWIM CLUB TEAM STREAMLINERS

This squad further develops swimmers as they move from elementary school to middle school. Training zones using heart rate and target time will be used.

To Qualify: Swimmers must be able to complete the following sets as well as demonstrate proficiency in all four strokes turns and starts.

Goals: Develop knowledge and ability to perform sets at “race pace” or at a given intensity, Increase training IQ.

Attendance Expectations: Minimum 3x a week. Expected to participate in home, inter-club, international and national level meets.

Breakouts

SWIM CLUB TEAM BREAKOUTS

This level is tailored to swimmers for whom swimming has become a priority in their choice of sports. These swimmers are familiar with squad training and committed to continue competitive swimming.

To Qualify: Swimmers must be able to complete the following sets as well as demonstrate proficiency in all four strokes turns and starts.

Goals: Continue aerobic development and skill acquisition, Learn to use a race plan.

Attendance Expectations: Minimum 3x a week, recommended 4-5x a week. Expected to participate in home, inter-club, international and national level meets.

Eagles

SWIM CLUB TEAM EAGLES

These are the best swimmers in the school. It is most likely that this is their only sport and that they commit most of their time outside the classroom to swimming year-long. Land training will be a large part of this swimmer’s program

To Qualify: Swimmers must be able to complete the following sets as well as demonstrate proficiency in all strokes turns and starts.

Goals: Continue developing advanced stroke technique and focus on endurance/ race-pace training.

Attendance Requirements: Minimum 5x a week. Expected to participate in most local meets, Try-out for the IASAS team, and compete at the National Age Group/ National championships.
