Middle School

Athletics
Middle school at SAS offers a broad and varied after school athletic program. For students wishing to compete in interscholastic play, there are representative sports teams that compete in the ACSIS (Athletic Conference of Singapore International Schools) league. Representative teams hold tryouts and meet up to three times a week over a season. For a recreational option, intramural activities typically run once a week over the course of an 8-10 week season.
About REP Sports
The middle school REP Sports Program offers over thirty ‘tryout’ teams that compete interscholastically in the divisions of ACSIS (Athletic Conference of Singapore International Schools). These age groupings are listed below.
REP team tryouts are held in the first few weeks of each season and once teams are selected, students practice and/or play up to three times a week. Games and matches are only scheduled Mondays through Fridays, 4:30-6:00 pm either home or away. Being part of a REP team means a full commitment. All practices and games are mandatory to attend so scheduling other events and activities around these practice times will be necessary.
Many of our students also participate in other outside of school programs, and we encourage them to do so by leaving the weekends free. However, on some occasions an ACSIS season will end with a tournament that may be scheduled on a Saturday. This date will be made clear early in the season by the team’s coach.
About Intramural Sports
The middle school Intramural Sports Program aims to provide every student the opportunity to participate in a sport in a friendly, less-competitive setting. Intramural sports are mostly once-a-week activities from 3:15 p.m. to 4:15 p.m. and no experience is needed!
Everyone gets to play, and it’s a great way to get some exercise and have fun after school. There are no fees, students can make the 4:30 p.m. activity buses, and no intramural activities are scheduled on the weekends.
Developmental Sports
The developmental sports aims to provide students the opportunity to to develop the skills necessary to become better in the sport and participate in a friendly, less-competitive setting. This program is not registerable, students who are not selected on the team during the tryout period will be registered in the developmental program and coached to improve their skill level.
