As part of our ongoing commitment to foster a collaborative and reflective learning environment, we are looking forward to our upcoming student-led conferences (SLCs) on Thursday, April 25 and Friday, April 26. These conferences are an integral part of our educational approach in the middle school, empowering students to take the lead in discussing their learning journey with you and their advisors.

Our SLCs feature a two-part format:

  1. Student-Led Conferences (SLC): Your child will share their learning progress, highlighting achievements, areas for growth, and setting future goals. This 15-minute session is a dialogue between your child, you (the parents), and their advisor, aimed at fostering a deeper understanding of your child’s educational journey.

  2. TRi Time Presentations: Your child will also present their TRi Time projects to other students and parents in a 35-minute presentation block. When reflecting on their experiences with TRi Time projects, students are encouraged to focus on the process rather than just the end product. This part of SLCs allows students to practice their presentation skills and share their learning in a broader context.

Here’s how you can support your child before, during, and after SLCs:

  1. Before the Conference:

    1. Engage in discussions with your child about what they have learned, their successes, and challenges.

    2. Review any materials or projects your child plans to present.

  2. During the Conference:

    1. Listen actively and provide supportive feedback to your child.

    2. Encourage your child to articulate their thoughts and take ownership of their learning experience.

    3. Ask thoughtful questions that prompt deeper reflection and discussion.

  3. After the Conference:

    1. Reflect with your child on the conference, discussing any new insights or plans for future learning.

    2. Encourage your child to take actionable steps toward their goals.

These conferences are a valuable opportunity for you to engage with your child’s learning and for students to develop key skills such as reflection, communication, and self-advocacy. We look forward to your participation and support in making these conferences a meaningful experience for our students.

Please stay tuned for more detailed information regarding the schedule and logistics of the SLCs. We are eager to witness the powerful conversations and insights that will emerge from these sessions.Thank you for your continued partnership in your child’s education!
