SAS Entry Requirements

In preschool, pre-kindergarten, kindergarten and first, grade placements are made by birth date. 

From second grade onwards, grade placements are primarily made based on previous school records and the grade the student last completed.

Preschool to pre-kindergarten	No minimum English requirements.
Kindergarten to third grade	Various levels of English proficiency required. Please reach out to your admissions officer before applying if your child is a non-native English speaker and English as an Additional Language (EAL) program may be required.
Fourth grade and above	English proficiency required. SAS does not have an EAL program for students beyond fourth grade.

Singapore Citizens

Applicants for preschool, pre-kindergarten and kindergarten

Students ages three, four and five who are Singapore Citizens and are not due for Primary 1 registration, may apply to SAS and, once admitted, may attend the school without approval from Singapore’s Ministry of Education (MOE) until the age of six.

Please note: Singapore Citizens SAS students who are five turning six years of age must obtain MOE approval to continue attending SAS. Should MOE at this point deny an SAS student this required approval to attend,or if there is a shortage of MOE approvals to offer all applicable students, the Singapore Citizen student will need to discontinue their enrollment at SAS. Singapore Citizens with Dual American Citizenship 

Applicants for grade one through grade twelve

SAS welcomes applications from all Singapore Citizens who qualify as Lane One Applicants; this includes dual Singaporean/American passport or US Green Card holders and/or SAS Guaranteed Placement Program participants. In addition to meeting all standard SAS criteria for admissions, Singapore law requires Singapore Citizen applicants (including dual passport holders) to obtain an MOE waiver to attend SAS.

MOE waivers are finite in number and there are far more applicants than waivers available each admissions season. For further information regarding the MOE waiver process for Singapore Citizens applicants, please contact the admissions office at sasinfo@sas.edu.sg.
 

All Other Singapore Citizens

Applicants for grade one through grade twelve 

Due to current Singapore government regulations and waiver limitations, SAS is only able to accept applications for grades one through twelve from Singapore Citizens who qualify as Lane One Applicants; this includes dual Singaporean/American Citizens or US Green Card holders and/or SAS Guaranteed Placement Program participants. SAS strives to meet a wide range of learning support needs.Numerous kinds of learning support services are available but these resources are finite.  Admissible applicants may be placed in a learning support waitpool if/ when the applicant’s grade level learning support program is at full capacity.  If your child currently receives or may require additional support, please contact our admissions team before applying to ensure we can support your child.

SAS is a day school that does not provide boarding for its students. It is a requirement for admission and continued enrollment that students must live in Singapore with at least one parent or court-ordered, legal guardian. Any family of an applicant who will not be living with a parent in Singapore will need to contact the admissions office at sasinfo@sas.edu.sg for further information before applying.
