Sessions 1 and 2: Elementary School

The emphasis in our elementary school is on providing an exciting and balanced program where learners have the flexibility to discover and explore their passions. What is your child’s deepest interest or passion? Is it experimenting in science, creating video games or exploring the rainforest? Do they want to design robots, start coding, or create gourmet recipes? Are they talented in a particular sport or do they thrive on expressing themselves creatively?

Wherever their interests lie, the summer semester will provide your child with an opportunity to pursue them. Each individual learner will be able to to engage in an exploration of their area of passion at a deep level.

Elementary school students will be grouped with other children of a similar age to form a learning hub. Each hub will have a team of innovative SAS educators at a ratio of 1:10. These inspiring teachers are already collaborating in their efforts to design an integrated program unlike any other offered.

Learning will be interdisciplinary, and take place in a variety of indoor and outdoor spaces, maximizing the rich resources that SAS and Singapore have to offer. Technology will be used to capture the learning journey and on the final day of each two week session students will have the opportunity to demonstrate their learning to an authentic audience. Parents, families, and community members will be invited to join in this culminating celebration and exhibition of learning.

Our goal is to provide an engaging, customized, and personalized learning experience for every student.

In the weeks leading up to Summer Semester your child will be asked to complete an Interest Inventory. This will explore their hobbies, strengths, interests, goals and passions.

Your child will be asked such questions as:

  • How do you learn best?
  • What are your favorite subjects?
  • How do you spend your free time?
  • What sports do you enjoy?
  • How do you like to challenge yourself?
  • If you could be anything in the world what would it be?

The purpose of this is to allow our teachers to design projects, and customize a learning experience that we know will appeal to your child. Our flexible elementary schedule means that we can cater for projects that extend over days. We value personalized learning, and want to ensure that your child has an experience to remember. Please let us know where their interests lie. We want to get to the core of what really inspires them to learn.
