SAS has the largest AP Capstone program in the world, with over 100 registered students. SAS is one of over 100 schools in the world chosen to pilot this program that will eventually impact 2.8 million students worldwide. Currently, 650 schools in the world support the program. The intensive inquiry-based course engages students in multi-disciplinary, cross-curricular dialogue regarding real-world topics and issues, culminating in an individual research project based on student passions and interests.
AP Capstone is comprised of two courses – AP Seminar and AP Research. Each course is one year long, with AP Seminar a prerequisite for AP Research, and is designed to a be complement to student's AP courses. The score for each course is reported on the standard 1-5 AP scoring scale.
A more in-depth look at the AP Capstone program can be found on the AP Capstone website.
SAS has been a kaleidoscope of opportunities waiting to be seized. My biggest lesson was to stay engaged in at least some of the many activities the school offers. From participating in Harvard Model Congress to taking up the school's 3D Design Course despite no history of sculpture, it's been an eye-opening experience to see the result of pursuing opportunities.
