Dear Parents,

I would like to extend a personal welcome to all of our families as we gear up for the start of school. Over the past month, as I have been settling into my new role as superintendent, my kids have been exploring the school, making friends, and meeting faculty members as part of our Jumpstart program.

Jumpstart plays an important role in our commitment to provide a warm, friendly culture for all of our kids and all of our families. As a family, we are very grateful for the welcome that the SAS community has extended to us.

This month we will welcome over 4,000 students and their families to Singapore American School, including 700 new students! I look forward to welcoming you personally. Our first events of the year help set the tone for students and families, and I encourage you to join us at our opening events and stay actively engaged with the life of the school this year.

Our Open House will be on Thursday, August 8 from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. for all new and returning students from preschool to twelfth grade. Open House represents a wonderful opportunity for students and parents to meet their teachers, for the SAS community to reconnect after the summer break, and to welcome new families into our community.

As the new year begins, I encourage you to reach out to your classroom teachers and school leaders and ask any questions you have. Strong relationships between teachers and parents are vital to supporting all of our kids. We are here to partner with you every step of the way.

There will be many opportunities for parents to connect this year, and I encourage you to participate as much as you can. Please look for monthly divisional parent information coffees, counseling parent seminars, campus upgrade workshops, and more. Personally, I look forward to having meetings with parents from every grade level to get to know you and hear your thoughts and feedback.

Thank you for actively engaging with the school and for all you do to help build a warm, welcoming community.

I look forward to seeing you!

Best,

Tom Boasberg
Superintendent
