Dear Parents,

I am looking forward next week to sharing with our community a full report on my listening tour of the last several months. I would like to invite you to come to one of our sessions: Wednesday evening downtown or Thursday morning at the school -- with additional opportunities to be announced soon. (Click here for details and to RSVP

I am very grateful to the nearly 1000 students, parents, and educators who attended one of the 58 listening tour sessions. I appreciate all of your shared thoughts on our strengths and areas of growth as a school, on how well we are succeeding in our mission and vision, and advice you had for me as your new superintendent. I learned a great deal from all the diverse voices, and it was nice to meet and begin establishing relationships with so many of you.

In the public sessions next week, I will be sharing:

  • A report on the key themes from the listening tour;
  • Reflections on my first six months and what I have learned about SAS; and
  • Proposals for our next steps in the strategic direction of the school.

In February, we will host sessions for Korean, Chinese, and Japanese speakers and parent coffees at the elementary, middle and high schools if you are not able to attend the sessions next week.

I hope to see you next week and hope that this weekend you and your family enjoy the lunar year holiday. 新年快乐 恭喜发财! Happy New Year!

Best,

Tom Boasberg
Superintendent
