Dear Parents,

Earlier this week I shared with our community the exciting news that our campus upgrade proposal was unanimously approved by our school board. Please see that email for details on the campus upgrade. We are thrilled to be able to move forward with this project and about the opportunities this will open up for our community.

I want to thank all of our students, teachers and parents who helped imagine and create this plan. The feedback and ideas of our community challenged us to re-think a number of key aspects of the plan and helped us make it much better. I also want to thank our school board members for the countless hours they spent in carefully analyzing, discussing, and evaluating pros and cons and different possibilities. Our board members serve as the stewards of our long-term future of the school, and I appreciate their thought partnership.

Our board chair, Ehab Abou Oaf said, “We are grateful for the significant work put in by our community members and educators. Our responsibility as a board is to ensure the long term health and vitality of our school community. We believe strongly that these upgrades to our campus will provide wonderful opportunities for our students and ensure we have vibrant high quality learning environments for our students for many years to come.”

As we move into the design phase, I want to share more about further community engagement opportunities around the project. The design phase is the really exciting part of any construction project, and we want to ensure your voice is engaged throughout this process. We are in the process of building design advisory groups. These groups will engage in discussions that help inform specific elements of the project. We welcome your ideas and creativity in creating the best environments for our students. Our educational design team will help lead those discussions and they will be open to all members of our community. If you have interest in serving on a design advisory group, please email our head of parent engagement, Dr. Leigh Martin (lmartin@sas.edu.sg).

We will communicate with you regularly throughout the process, and we have created a website that will be updated regularly with the latest information. We also intend to launch an ongoing video series that will allow you to follow along and quickly see what we’re working on. Click here to see an introduction to the project form our school leaders.

Keep an eye on eNews each week where we will include updates and links to the latest information. We are excited to continue our work together as we move into the next phase of this project!

Best,

Tom Boasberg
