Guidelines Around Elementary Birthday Celebrations Within Class
Guidelines Around Elementary Birthday Celebrations Within Class

We appreciate your support and understanding in this constantly evolving situation as we continue to prioritize the health and safety for all of our students. In hearing from our elementary parents around their desire to provide some recognition for their child's birthday, while ensuring students are safe, we are offering the following guidelines. We are saying no to any food items brought in from outside school for distribution to children as part of a birthday treat. We are also saying no to non-edible treats because we are concerned about the disparity between the size, cost, and nature of the gift, which could possibly lead to bad feelings amongst the children. If you wish to provide an edible treat we would recommend you do this through our in-school food provider, Mr. Hoe (6363-6449).

Please know we are encouraging our teachers to continue celebrating each child's birthday in a special manner. Teachers may invite the parents in to read a story to the class on a child's birthday. The teacher could also ask each student to write something special to wish the child a great day. They could also sing happy birthday and sign a card for the child. These are various examples of some things teachers will continue to do. We appreciate your support as we attempt to provide a safe and fun environment for the children.
