INNOVATION AND TRADITION

WHAT WILL CHANGE AND STAY THE SAME?
SAS has a history of building upon past success while addressing needs that emerge. We are excited to build on the progress and innovations of the last strategic plan and to consider what are the most important ways we can further improve opportunities for our students in the years to come.

Staying the same Changing

Our commitment to:

  • fulfil our our strategic foundation
    (mission, vision, core values, learning aspirations, and strategic anchors);

  • ensure every student learns at high levels,
    feels known and advocated for,
    enjoys personalized learning opportunities that
    meet their interests and needs, and develops the dispositions and skills necessary to be an exceptional thinker prepared for the future;

  • recruit, support, and retain top tier
    educators who are committed to collaborating with each other toensure each student’s learning
    and social-emotional needs are addressed;

  • build on the programs and practices
    introduced in the past strategic plan—
    things like professional learning communities,
    advisories in middle and high schools, and special programs like Chinese immersion, TriTime, and Catalyst—to meet the needs of the whole child

We are strengthening key practices to better meet the needs of students and achieve our vision:

  • Deepen our students’ focus on our learning aspirations

  • Promote consistency of high quality teaching in every classroom to support the learning needs of each student

  • Increase coaching and feedback for teachers on their professional practice, including through the development of teacher leadership and coaching opportunities

  • Deepen our focus on social-emotional learning and wellness

  • Promote diversity, equity, and inclusion and ensure every student feels valued and included

  • Strengthen our school culture and school community based on our shared core values

  • Upgrade our campus to be more environmentally sustainable and improve learning environments and opportunities

  • Enrich our students’ international and cross-cultural perspectives here in Singapore and the region

  • Continue to explore and design innovative programs to meet student needs and interests as well as the SAS strategic direction
