​My love affair with Interim Semester began in September 1972, when then Singapore American School Superintendent Dr. Jack McLeod asked me if I had ever heard those words before. After hearing my "no," he explained that the concept had been proposed by teachers during Faculty Orientation Week, and he wanted me to study it so we could start one up at SAS.

SAS Commitment to Healthy Choices and the New USDA Dietary Guidelines

Last month the USDA released its updated dietary guidelines. The guidelines, revised every five years, aim to help Americans make better food choices in order to live healthier lives, reduce obesity, and prevent diet-related illnesses. At SAS, we have been working for years to provide a wide range of healthy food options for our community. We are pleased to see that our efforts correlate well to the updated USDA guidelines, and in some areas go well beyond them.

The SAS HS Counseling department encourages your students to use their summer weeks productively. Counselors will share their thoughts on college tours, academic camps, jobs, etc.

SAS students have wrapped up their Catalyst projects and are ready to present their findings and final products to the public. From writing a novel to conducting research in a medical lab to creating a hackathon, Catalyst project allow students to dive deep into subjects that truly interest them.
