SAS Summer 2013
Summer Program Moratorium
Each year, the SAS facilities team plans the maintenance and remodeling projects that will take place during the summer break. As SAS maintains a commitment to excellent facilities that contribute to outstanding learning experiences for students, the number of summer projects continues to expand and creates challenges to our being able to successfully deliver a summer program while at the same time ensuring the safety of several hundred students, faculty, and staff.
Therefore, given the number of projects that are planned across campus since summer 2012, we are placing a moratorium on the summer program and will not offer the on-campus five week summer school program in 2013. We anticipate this moratorium may remain in effect for two to three years due to the nature of projects represented in the SAS ten-year facilities plan. However, we will continue to evaluate the feasibility of holding a summer program in future years, and will keep the SAS community updated regarding our plans. For the summer of 2013, however, we will not be offering an on-campus summer school program.
Thank you for your commitment to SAS and your understanding about the need to place the moratorium on the summer program for 2013. We hope that this early notification provides adequate time to complete your summer plans.
