School Mission

The Singapore American School is committed to providing each student with an exemplary American educational experience with an international perspective.

  • Academic rigor
  • Professional excellence
  • Extraordinary care for the welfare of each child

A Culture of Giving

The SAS community is well known for its active volunteers.

Inside and outside the classroom, from primary school through high school, the spirit of giving is strong. Students raise funds and donate items through programs such as the walkathon for the Leprosy Home, “Read to Feed,” and a “swimathon” to benefit the School for the Blind. They donate uniforms to a school in Cambodia and give books to Singapore charities at Christmas time. They are generous with their time as well, volunteering at the Meta Home, Spastic Children’s Society and a sponsored school on the island of Bintan, Indonesia, as well as a multitude of other Singapore charities. Through all these activities, and more, our students learn to experience the joy of giving.

Supporting our School

The Singapore American School also boasts an active community of involved parents, dedicated faculty, corporate partners and loyal alumni. The Board of Governors comprises parents at the school who take on the serious responsibility for the present and future well-being of the school on a volunteer basis. The Parent-Teacher Association (PTA), the High School Booster Club and the Arts Council give freely of their time and effort to raise funds for the school. Their presence on campus provides a sense of community and friendship as well as support to the students and faculty. Corporate sponsors provide goods and services that support fund raising events as well as important social occasions. And loyal alumni have made significant contributions, both in cash donations and in sharing their talents and experiences with our students. This wonderful support provides for the immediate needs of the school and has been the cornerstone in the creation of many extraordinary programs and opportunities for our school.

Looking to the Future

In 1956, the Singapore American School began with 105 students in a small rented house. Today it consists of more than 3,800 students in a multi-million dollar facility on 36 acres in the Woodlands district of Singapore. As our school has grown, so have our needs. With a history of fundraising for present needs, primarily through the PTA, Booster Club and Arts Council, our school has been able to offer programs and speakers for students that would not be possible through tuition fees alone. The goal of the SAS Foundation is to expand and enhance the opportunities and enrichment activities available for students and to secure the financial future of the Singapore American School.

Learn about the SAS Foundation

The SAS Foundation was established to support and enhance the exemplary education educational programs a the Singapore American School by providing additional sources of funding, through donations and grants, and to develop the school's long-term endowment fund. Most funds raised will be used to support current educational programs. A portion of each donation will be placed in the school's endowment fund to provide financial security for the future.
