Admissions

Director's Welcome

Welcome to SAS Admissions!

We are so grateful that you are looking at our school for your future. Every move a family makes in the world leads to stretching, growth and change. You get to start fresh. You get to reinvent yourself. And, once again, you must say goodbye to parts of your life that mean a great deal to you. It's a learning experience.

In transition, we believe it's critical to find a school that honors your child's need for academic challenge, bold and broad exploration and extraordinary care. Those are our specialties at Singapore American School, hallmarks that allow you to be yourselves while reaching for something more and worthwhile.

We invite you to get to know us. As the largest single-campus international school in the world and one of the originals in Singapore, people can feel like they have us figured out in advance. But there are pleasant surprises at every turn on our Woodlands campus. Take a fresh look, get in touch, visit, and let us know what you think.

Our team is experienced in international transition, knowledgable about curricula and advisement, compassionate when it comes to the anxieties of change and your child's education.

We are excited to serve you in your transition across the island or across the world.

With warm regards,

Mona Stuart
SAS Director of Admissions

Admissions Cycle

The Admissions Office is open 12 months excluding Singapore public holidays. Applications can be submitted throughout the calendar year. Students are accepted as spaces become available. Students who decline an offer of admission are put on the wait list for future enrollment. We don’t defer enrollment.

Our largest enrollment is in August which is the start of the SAS school year. We begin reviewing applications in February. It’s important parents keep their children’s applications current by updating them with recent school records. In March current students are asked to re-enroll for the upcoming school year. The number of returning students tells us the number of new students we can accept for the Fall Semester. Acceptance letters start going out mid-March. Students will continue to be accepted through the summer until the start of school. Spaces become available for many reasons. It’s hard to predict space availability. However, the Admissions Office is aware of the urgency families feel about finding the right school for their children. We try hard to admit students in a timely manner.

Nationality Profile

The Singapore American School has a student population of over 3,800 students. Approximately 68 percent of the students hold U.S. passports, although many of those children have spent little or no time living in the United States. Korean students represent 10 percent of the student body. Singaporean students are 4 percent of the student population, while Canadian, Japanese, Indonesian and Indian students each make up about 3 percent. The remaining students come from over 50 countries. The students participate in a school program that is committed to cultivating American values while nourishing academic excellence with an international perspective.
