There are many events in the lives of our children and families that are important to honor.  One possible way to add meaning in order to model commitment to learning and to demonstrate value in education, would be to honor important family events, by donating a book to the SAS libraries through the Celebration Books program.

The Celebration Books program is jointly sponsored by the PTA and the four SAS libraries.  This program allows families to honor family achievements (academic, athletic…) and special events such as children’s birthdays and graduations.  This program also provides an opportunity to recognize a teacher, coach, or any other special person.  For each $35 donation a bookplate will be placed inside the book to identify the person or event being honored along with the name of the donor.  The person honored will receive a certificate indicating the donation in their name.

Additionally, when the PTA learns of an adoption, birth or death in the SAS community, the PTA makes a book donation to one of the school libraries.  These books will also have a bookplate inside the book to honor the person or event.  This aspect of the program depends on word of mouth, so please contact us if you know of someone for whom a donation can be made.

The librarians will do their best to select a new book that honors your dedication, while meeting the curricular needs for that library.  Each of our school libraries work to support the curricular goals established within the division and all materials for that library are selected to fulfill those goals.  Please understand that at times, specific title requests may have to be modified.

SAS has four outstanding libraries with constantly expanding collections and with your support of this program it means that the library collections will continue to grow and be enhanced.
