The Intermediate Library serves students from grade 3 to grade 5. In addition to providing quality reading materials that are constantly being evaluated and enhanced, the library also supports the curriculum and teachers of these grade levels. As students move toward more independent reading, the library works with the students and teachers to guide them to a lifetime of love with reading.
There are several special collections designed to offer appropriate materials to different patrons besides the larger sections of Fiction (FIC) and Nonfiction (Dewey Call Number).
Picture Books (PIC) —fictional picture books are separated from the main fiction sections. These books combine pictures and text to present the overall story.
Series—this collection contains many of the popular series from the fiction section. Reading series books have been shown to aid in reading comprehension.
Professional Resources—books that are used to support the teachers can be found on the upper level in front of the Teacher’s Loft. Professional books are designated by the call number prefix of PRO.
Guidance-Books that deals with parenting issues, child development, social issues for children among other topics can be found in the guidance library in the main office. Some duplicate copies of these books can be found in the main library. Guidance books are designated in the catalog by the call number prefix of G.
