Welcome to Singapore American School’s Intermediate Division. We are also happily known as the “Land of the Geckos.”

We are pleased to have the opportunity to work with you this year and are excited to introduce you to the students, teachers, and programs.

At the Intermediate School (IS), we strive to provide a safe and developmentally appropriate academic environment that promotes each student's social, emotional, and academic development. We support the overall school mission and vision by inspiring a passion for learning while helping our students to develop into the global leaders of tomorrow.

The IS program is based on the following core beliefs:

• Respect for individuals and their diversity is essential for society to flourish.

• Individuals are responsible for their choices and actions, to themselves, to society, and to the environment.
• The Intermediate School years provide an unique opportunity for students to take risks, to make mistakes, and to grow as learners.

Based on these core beliefs, we have created and implemented a successful academic program that meets the individual needs of our students. The academic program includes studies in the core curricular areas: Reading, Writing, Math, Science, and Social Science, as well as in specialist areas: Art, Music, PE, Chinese, and Technology. In addition to these academic classes, students have access to support through our Support Services in the following domains:  Gifted and Talented Education (GATE), Academic Support, English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL), and Counseling.  Our core curriculum along with our support services exemplies our commitment to the SAS Vital Few:  Academic Rigor, Professional Excellence and Extraordinary Care for each and every child.   We strive to make the most of your child’s educational experience in the Intermediate School and our main goal is for our students to grow as learners and to develop the five R’s: reading, writing, arithmetic, respect and responsibility.
